Conference Weekend

Okay all, it is one of my FAVOURITE weekends.  This weekend our church, and anyone else who wants to tune in and listen, get to hear the words of living prophets and apostles.  We spend the entire weekend listening to talks and beautiful music about Jesus Christ and his love for us.  We learn of our roles here on earth, the ways we can serve and grow and we improve our relationship with our Saviour.  Already today we have been filled with wonderful instruction.  I love looking for the themes that stand out and the overall messages that are consistent amongst the talks.  

I also love cooking meals and sharing them with my children while we watch.  This morning we made Dutch Apple Pancakes with homemade buttermilk syrup.  Tomorrow I think we will have whole wheat waffles with poached eggs and ham.  I might make cinnamon buns as well - it seems like the perfect thing to do between sessions and they can rise while I watch.
We also play conference Bingo - the children have sheets with topics on them like Eternal Families, Jesus Christ, Baptism, Holy Ghost, Temple, etc and they have to listen for those words.  Once they hear them they mark them off and once they get a complete row they call BINGO.  The get candies for the words they hear and prizes for the BINGO's.  They love it!  We also play a large game of Conference Bingo for Family Home Evening the Monday after.  I will take pictures and share that next week.

I hope you have the chance and take the time to listen to the words of a living prophet.  Even if you never have before, you may learn something new.  You will certainly come away feeling loved and recognize our Heavenly Father's love for you personally.
